Actualmente se trabaja en esta línea, siempre con el fin de re-
ducir los costes de este fármaco, intentando clonar los genes de la
planta que intervienen en la biosíntesis de artemisinina e insertarlos
en E. Coli.

Como conclusión, quisiera resaltar la importancia que tiene en la
innovación la interrelación entre distintas áreas científicas y, una
vez más, subrayar el papel de una visión química, que puede ser
esencial o complementaria, en el entendimiento y en la propuesta de
soluciones, dentro de la difícil tarea de la investigación de nuevos
fármacos.
